About Us

A Women-Led Organisation Built Around What Women and Girls Actually Need

Our Mission

Shared Action Africa (SAA) is a Ugandan, women-led nonprofit organization that works with refugee and host-community women and girls to build by strengthening reproductive health systems, creating pathways for income and supporting women to lead change in their communities.

Over the next decade, we envision a world where one million women and girls in refugee and host communities exercise agency to lead their families and communities from aid dependency towards self-reliance and resilience.

Our Vision

What Makes SAA Different

Women do not just receive support - they deliver it

Many women who go through SAA’s programmes become trainers, peer educators, community leaders, and service connectors. This creates a circle of receiving and giving back, where impact grows from within the community.

The model adapts to real life

Women and girls arrive with different histories, needs, risks, and ambitions. Refugee contexts also change quickly. SAA responds with a flexible model that can adjust across age groups, life stages, community needs, and changing circumstances.

It works beyond the individual

SAA recognizes that women are navigating larger forces: weak infrastructure, under-resourced services, limited market access, harmful social norms, and resistance to reproductive health choices. Through partnerships and advocacy, SAA works with women and local actors to build solutions and shift mindsets.

Designed to scale

Because the model is community-led, adaptable, and built through local delivery systems, it can be replicated across other refugee settlements and host communities.

Strengthens local and government systems

SAA strengthens local health systems by connecting people, institutions, and community structures
